Its mission is to conduct the industry’s most comprehensive analysis of the global Internet-of-Things industry and then recognize the ‘breakthrough’ innovators, leaders and visionaries.

The 8^th annual awards program attracted thousands of nominations from companies all over the world. With that said, we are all the more excited to reveal that our AnyNet SMARTconnect™ solution has been recognized as a standout product and worthy winner of the “M2M Product of the Year” award.

What is AnyNet SMARTconnect™?

AnyNet SMARTconnect™ is a module-agnostic connectivity software solution for IoT devices. It allows the deployment, management, optimization and security of devices at scale, without the need of connectivity engineers. It codifies decades of connectivity expertise into powerful and flexible software that can be easily integrated into any IoT or connected device.

SMARTconnect™ constantly monitors the data session, throughput and network switches. It can manage modem, wireless network and higher-layer protocol complexity, which is accessed through simplified send and receive SDK and APIs, providing end-to-end data transfer and security.

Connectivity software intelligence creates network resilience

The on-device connectivity intelligence provided by SMARTconnect™ enables simultaneous optimization across multiple device constraints and can support future networks and operators. The ability to recover from network outages provides complete security and peace of mind for customers with global IoT deployments.

Our customer AmericanPharma, a specialist in cold chain management, particularly benefited from this in July 2022 when Rogers Communications experienced a massive network outage that affected all of its Canadian customers.While the wireless radio connection remained active, the end-to-end data path was down. This meant there was no way to identify the issue and switch networks.  As a result, most IoT devices across Rogers’ network were offline for the full 19 hours.

All of AmericanPharma’s PharmaWatch devices with AnyNet SMARTconnect™ and AnyNet+ eSIM embedded were able to recover connectivity within 30 to 90 minutes, by switching networks to the TELUS network. This resulted in in minimum downtime and disruption in service for customers. This was particularly crucial given that many of AmericanPharma’s devices monitor temperature levels, along with other environmental factors, to ensure the safe transit of human embryos from hospital to clinic. If the temperature had changed – either up or down – the health and quality of the embryos could have been compromised, resulting in devastating loss.

Cellular connectivity choice and optimization

Customers can automatically tailor connectivity to meet the precise needs of their application. AnyNet SMARTconnect™ works with the modem and eSIM to select, manage and optimize the Radio Access Type (RAT) and network provider. The solution is also compliant with data sovereignty, GDPR, HIPAA, PCI and more, with an implicit agent supporting management, security and compliance. This is backed by connectivity-aware over-the-air updates and other lifecycle management.
